Connect with the RM of Rosser Emergency Management Team – October 2025

Submitted by Dave Atwell & Chuck Cadick

The RM of Rosser has a new emergency management team. We are Dave Atwell and Chuck Cadick. Our main roles are to keep the municipal emergency plan up to date by reviewing it annually, conduct emergency exercises annually, and run the overall emergency program. During an actual emergency, we would stand up and run the Emergency Operations Centre. We work closely with the RM of Rosser Fire Department, Public Works and Administration teams.

One of our key challenges is finding ways to communicate with the business community in CentrePort (for the area of CentrePort that is inside the RM of Rosser boundaries). There are a lot of businesses in CentrePort, some that have been here quite a while already and some that are more recent, and some that are just getting started. It’s exciting to see all this activity.

To assist us in our efforts to be able to communicate with the businesses in CentrePort, we are currently working on two approaches:

  1. The first is to let you know about Rosser Connect. This is a way to stay up to date with all the latest news, events, weather and emergency alert messages for the Rural Municipality of Rosser. You can sign up by visiting the RM of Rosser web page: the sign up is right there on the main page (look for Rosser Connect). Many of the residents of the RM have signed up for this, but very few businesses have. So, please take a look and sign up, as we welcome all businesses to sign up so we can communicate this way with you.
  2. Our second approach will be to develop a list later this year of all the businesses and contact information (hopefully with email addresses). We can then use this list to communicate with you and let you know what is going on, planned education sessions for emergency management and perhaps planned exercises for emergency management. We would like to get you involved in some of our emergency management exercises. Do you know what to do if a major incident occurred in CentrePort and you had to evacuate? That’s what these exercises are for – to understand and practice the plan and then improve upon it.

If you have other ideas on how to work together, please let us know. You can email us at rmofrossereoc@gmail.com
