With over $800 million in building permits issued over the last 7 years, totalling 3.2+ million sq. ft. of construction, the landscape in CentrePort Canada is constantly evolving.
Here’s a look at some of the latest construction.
Groupe Touchette in Brookside Industrial Park West
Construction is on schedule for the 112,000 sq. ft. expansion of Groupe Touchette, the largest Canadian-owned tire distributor, says Greg Thompson, Construction Manager with Concord Projects, a CentrePort Canada Partner.
“We are nearing the completion of the building envelope systems,” says Thompson. “Our critical upcoming milestones will be the interior concrete slab and exterior concrete works.”
Concord has already completed the foundation, underground site services, lot grading, asphalt subbase structure, building foundation, building superstructure, and pre-cast concrete wall panels.
Thompson says they expect construction on the site to be completed by September.

MoveMobility in Brookside Business Park
MoveMobility, Canada’s trusted leader in wheelchair accessible vehicle innovation, is expanding its operations by 63,000 sq. ft. on 10 acres of land. The additional space will support the manufacturing of Type II ambulances and is expected to create 55 new jobs, bolstering the local economy and the company’s global export capabilities.
Construction is well underway by CentrePort Partner Contempora Steel Builders. Contempora has completed primary and secondary steel. Over the shop area, roof installation is underway. In the office area, underground plumbing is wrapping up, and roof parapets have started. The second-floor steel erection is ongoing and the recessed loading dock retaining walls have been poured.

Boeing Winnipeg Expansion
Boeing Winnipeg opened a 12,000 sq. ft. expansion to its aerospace composite manufacturing plant in Winnipeg on June 24th, strengthening the factory’s production capacity. This marks the fifth expansion since the facility opened in 1971, reflecting continued growth and strong demand for airplane components.
The CAD $20 million expansion features a 7,250 square-foot freezer for storing composite manufacturing materials, which nearly doubles the site’s existing freezer capacity allowing for a higher production output. To ensure quality, composite materials are stored at -23° Celsius (-10° Fahrenheit) and are thawed just before part production begins.
Boeing partnered with local contractors Alliance Engineering and CentrePort Canada Partner Bockstael Construction to execute this expansion.
