Air Canada Park is Taking Shape in Downtown Winnipeg, with the Official Opening Set for Late Fall

As part of a collaborative partnership between Scatliff + Miller + Murray (SMM) and KGS Group, the transformation of Air Canada Park, located in downtown Winnipeg, is underway.

Inspired by the stories of Turtle Island and shaped through a summer of meaningful community engagement, this park will become a welcoming, inclusive gathering place for connection, reflection, and celebration — rooted in Indigenous knowledge and tradition.

SMM worked alongside elders, knowledge keepers and rights holders to ensure the renewed park was inviting to its users. The revitalized downtown space features improved accessibility, a ceremonial circle, a raised platform for celebration, and vegetation inspired by Manitoba’s ecoregions and traditional medicines.

The redesign extends along the Portage Avenue streetscape, anticipating future transit upgrades and integrating new urban forestry and stormwater standards.

The renewed Air Canada Park will be ready to welcome the community back. Learn more about the project here.

Try Our Premium Mats – Free for One Week

During the colder months, keeping floors clean can be a persistent challenge. Salt, slush, and moisture often find their way inside, no matter how frequently floors are swept or mopped. Beyond appearances, wet and dirty floors increase the risk of slips, contribute to higher maintenance costs, and divert staff from other priorities.

To address this, Quintex is offering a free one-week mat trial (or until your next scheduled pickup). This provides both existing partners and those considering our services the opportunity to experience how our mats perform in day-to-day operations before committing. A variety of premium commercial mats are available for the trial (excluding logo mats).

Reliable, clean mops are another essential component of a comprehensive floor care strategy. While not part of the trial, our mop service also includes pickup, cleaning, and replacement, ensuring floors remain safe and presentable without the burden of managing inventory.

Contact us to schedule your trial or inquire about preferred CenterPort pricing.

RRC Polytech raises Deaf Flag to mark International Week of Deaf People

On September 23, 2025, RRC Polytech raised the Deaf Flag for the first time at its Notre Dame Campus to mark the International Week of Deaf People and the International Day of Sign Languages. The ceremony, open to the community, symbolized the institution’s commitment to inclusivity and accessibility. The idea was brought forward by Deaf staff and faculty with the goal of creating a more welcoming environment for Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals.

The Deaf Flag, designed by French Deafblind artist Arnaud Balard and sourced from the World Federation of the Deaf, represents unity and the ongoing fight for equal rights. It will be raised annually during the International Week of the Deaf, joining the Treaty One, Red River Métis, and Inclusive Pride flags.

The event also coincides with the relaunch of RRC Polytech’s ASL-English Interpretation program this fall, which underwent a significant redesign based on feedback from Deaf and interpreting communities. Read more here.
