On June 12, 2025, CentrePort Canada presented the first Board Chair Globe to outgoing Board Member and Past Chair, Chris Lorenc. Chris was nominated in 2008 by the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce and subsequently by the CentrePort Canada Board of Directors. During his tenure, he served as Board Director, Board Chair, and Governance and Nominations Committee Chair.
The CentrePort Canada Board Chair Globe was designed and 3D-printed at the National Research Council Canada’s (NRC) Brookside Advanced Manufacturing Research Facility. The NRC is a CentrePort Canada Partner located in CentrePort North, in the RM of Rosser.
The custom, 3D-printed steel globe was inspired by the CentrePort Canada logo and features the three main modes of transportation used in CentrePort – trucks, planes, and trains. Each vehicle sits proudly on a section of Canada’s maple leaf.

The Globe will be presented to Board Chairs upon the completion of their term on the CentrePort Canada Inc. Board of Directors.
The NRC’s Brookside Advanced Manufacturing Research Facility specializes in:
- Metal additive manufacturing (metal 3D printing)
- Robotics & automation
- Sustainable packaging to determine how environmentally friendly bioplastics are for breaking down in various soil and water types.
