In April, Carly Edmundson and Aimee Goyer from CentrePort Canada traveled to Ottawa as part of the Manitoba Advantage coalition, alongside colleagues from the Business Council of Manitoba, Manitoba Heavy Construction Association, and our Partners at the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce and Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce. Together, they delivered a clear message on Parliament Hill: investing in Manitoba strengthens Canada’s trade, security, and economic resilience.
Meetings with federal leaders, industry partners, and policymakers highlighted Manitoba’s trade-enabling infrastructure, including CentrePort Canada, the Port of Churchill, Manitoba’s trimodal transportation network, and direct access to Arctic and global markets. These strategic assets support a stronger national supply chain, increased trade diversification, and long-term economic growth.
CentrePort Canada reinforced its role as a proven driver of private investment, job creation, and export capacity, while emphasizing that shovel-ready projects, like CentrePort, are ready to deliver economic impact now. The message from Ottawa was clear: Manitoba’s assets are national assets, and strategic investment here will strengthen Canada’s supply chains and economic security.

The Manitoba Advantage is a coalition of business and industry groups advocating for strong collaboration between government, industry, and Indigenous leadership toward meeting Canada’s urgent trade, security, and workforce development priorities. Manitoba’s business community stands united and ready to help leverage Manitoba’s unique strengths within Confederation to build a more secure and prosperous future for all Canadians.
