KGS GROUP HELPS THE ROYAL CANADIAN MINT REDUCE THEIR CARBON FOOTPRINT WITH A LARGE GEOTHERMAL DEVELOPMENT IN WINNIPEG As a leader in geothermal development, KGS Group recently partnered with the Royal Canadian Mint to help reduce their carbon footprint. The geothermal design objectives for this project were to eliminate the use of natural gas for space heating and minimize power consumption for cooling at the Mint’s Winnipeg facility. KGS Group’s geothermal team has completed all the field work and exterior and interior engineering design and is moving forward with system construction over the spring – summer of 2023.

The Manitoba Hydro Dorsey Converter Station (near Centreport in the RM of Rosser) is another notable geothermal project completed by KGS Group. They provided detailed design, full-time resident construction supervision and contract administration for a groundwater cooling system for the Dorsey Converter Station. KGS Group received an Award of Merit from the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies – Manitoba (ACEC-MB) for this project, which provides significant annual savings to Manitoba Hydro.
